Remembered at Loos memorial. b1879 Wolstanton, Staffs, married Margaret Vernon Ford b 1880 New Ferry, Cheshire, sister of Charles Stewart Ford and brother of Roger Anson Ford below. Their mother was Mary Jane Turner b1844 Hathersage, who married Rev Charles Primrose Ford, b1849 Postwick, Norfolk. Her father, Rev Isaac B Turner was appointed to the Curacy of Hathersage (13/5/1843 p2 Cambridge Chronical & Journal & 20/5/1843 Oxford Chronicle).

HELLIWELL, Thomas.
Served with the New Zealand forces. b1895 Holmesfield. His father Henry Helliwell, b 1867 Hathersage, brother of Mark Helliwell.. 1871/1881 the Helliwell’s farmed Cow Close Farm. Quite a number of them emigrated to New Zealand.

Enlisted 26/3/1917 RAF 68453. b1885 Hope. A Grinder by profession. (Brother of Henry Godber) His mother was Louisa Ibbotson, b 1857 Hathersage.

Gnr 167771 RGA. Not fit enough for frontline service. b1896 Sheffield. An Insurance Inspector. Family lived at Crossland Road, Hathersage.
FRITH, Alfred.
Royal Dragoons in Boer War, later served in India. Still in the Army in 1913, but unsure if he continued into WW1. b 1879, Poplar, London, son of Seth Frith, b 1857 Hathersage, 1861 C a family of Wire Drawers in Hathersage, who later moved to London. Emigrated to Australia, where he became an Actor & comedian of some note.
