✟ Щ  Enlisted Bakewell; TR6/13888 Pte 14 Bn Training Reserve, Notts & Derbys. Died 27/2/1917 age 18,. (from pneumonia per SDT 5/3/1917, where he is referred to as ‘John Turner Kitchen, who only enlisted a few weeks ago‘).

 

 

Grave; Rugeley Cemetery,England, Plot 2, 424 (gravestone engraved; R.I.P. Son of the late G J Turner and S A M Turner of Sheffield.) b 1899 in Colombo, Ceylon. 1901C and at the time of his enlistment living at ‘Rock House’, Hathersage, nephew of Teresa Kitchen (head), together with his parents, George and Sarah Turner and brother George (also b 1900 Ceylon). Miss Theresa Winifred Kitchin, ‘Rock House’, Hathersage became his guardian after his father died before 1917. A relative was Mrs J Peck of 17 Avondale Road, Hazel Grove, Stockport.
