Arthur was a labourer and brother of Charles, Ernest and John Robert, also of two other brothers; William Henry (dead), and Henry, who was probably too old for call-up, sons of William Henry Middleton a plumber, b1842 Hathersage, & Jane Ellen Titterton b 1846 Lancaster. She was already a widow by 1869 and her maiden name was Middleton, but not necessarily related. She gave birth to 14 children in total. Father William Henry was the brother of Mary Middleton, Hubert Jennison’s grandmother.
