(SDT 12/1/1917 p2; with photo). b 1896 Brixton. (DC 29/1/1916 article; from Inns of Court Officer Training Corps, the son of Mr William Johnston, London, secretary of the Chemists’ Defence Association. His mother was Sarah Bradwell, b Cliffe House, Hathersage, (which was a farm & earlier the ‘Bull & Mouth’ pub until 1844), daughter of the late Mr Hugh Bradwell, Cunliffe House, Hathersage).
