✟ ≠ An acting Major in the 21 Siege Bty R G A awarded the M.C. (SDT 5/1/1917 & Daily Mirror 9/1/1917 with picture). Died of wounds 12/7/1917 near Ypres, (SDT 4/7/1918 & London Illustrated News 28/7/1918 with picture). Buried Wimereux Communal Cemetery, Nord Pas de Calais, France.

 

 

 

 

b1891, Hampstead, eldest son of Sebastian Ziani De Ferranti, founder of Ferranti Electric, and Gertrude Ruth (Ince) His father took up residence in 1905 at the Commercial Hotel, Grindleford then all the family went to live at ‘Ingleside’, Nether Padley before moving in 1913 to Baslow Hall.  Educated at Repton School and Sheffield University.
